Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Demco Air Force One supplemental braking system on our 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. Now, the biggest reason for adding a supplemental braking system, especially like the Air Force One to your GMC Sierra is going to be so that your vehicle can stop itself while you're flat towing it behind your motor home. There's a lot of states that will require you to have a supplemental braking system and it all is typically based off of weight. So you want to check in the states that you're gonna be traveling through to make sure what your requirements are. But 9 times out of 10 they're gonna have, you're gonna have to have something. more

Today on our 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Demco Air Force One supplemental braking system. So there's going to be five main components needed to flat tow your Sierra down the road. You're going to have a base plate, your tow bar, your tow bar wiring, your braking system, as well as your safety cables. Now the reason you're going to want to use a braking system is not only to be legal but safe. Whenever you're not using a braking system, it's going to be completely up to the motor home, to only slow itself down and the truck and that can really increase your stopping distance. more

Well I'm here at etrailer.com and today, you're going to be taking a look at all the components necessary to flat tow your GMC Sierra 1500 down the road. There's going to be a total of five components needed to flat tow.The first one is going to be our base plate. Now this is going to be our secure connection point that's going to attach directly to the frame on our truck so that we can hook up our tow bar.The second component is going to be our tow bar and that's going to be what connects to the base plate and connects to the motorhome.After that, we're going to have our safety cables. Now those are going to be a safety device just like on a trailer in case there was a disconnection. These are going to be our last line of defense before our truck goes down the road.Then we're going to have tow bar wiring. This is going to make sure we get all the signals to the back of our truck when we're towing it so we can get down the road safely and everyone knows what's going on.Then finally we're going to have our breaking system and that's going to be useful because we don't want to rely on our motorhome purely to slow itself down since we're adding so much weight to the back of it.Whenever it comes to base plates, there're going to be several different options out there. more

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2017 GMC Sierra 1500- Video
Today on our 2017 GMC Sierra 1500, you're gonna be taking at look at, I'm gonna show you how I install the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System, part number SM99251. Here we have our G-force controller. This is gonna allow us to turn our system on and off. It's also gonna allow us to adjust the sensitivity of our braking pressure. When mounting this, it can be mounted on the driver or passenger side. You just gotta make sure that it's level with the direction of travel. more
